Instructions: DIY Snow Globe Kit
DIY Snow Globe Kit — Step-by-step
Thanks for choosing Everyday Flourish! Follow these steps to build your snow globe tumbler. Adult supervision required for any step involving UV resin or small parts.
-
Remove the lid and the plug from the cup. Place the cup bottom-side up on a flat, protected surface.
-
Shake the solution bottle well before opening.
-
Carefully pour the solution into the inside of the double-walled tumbler until it’s about halfway up.
-
Wipe the bottom exterior of the cup dry so glitter won’t stick where the plug will seal.
-
Add glitter (or your desired amount) into the solution — go slow until you get the look you want.
-
Cover the plug hole temporarily (finger or tape) and gently shake the cup to mix glitter and solution.
-
Finish filling the tumbler with solution. It’s normal for a small air bubble to remain.
-
Insert and plug the hole, making sure the plug sits flush. Shake again to confirm glitter flow and appearance.
-
When you’re happy with the look, an adult should apply UV resin to the top of the plug and around its edges to create a strong seal. Spread the resin evenly so it covers the seam.
-
Use the UV black-light keychain to cure the resin. Hold the light close and shine on all resin areas for a couple minutes, making sure to hit every angle.
-
Gently tap the sealed area with the bottle or fingernail to test if the resin is fully hardened. If it’s still tacky, continue curing with the light until fully set.
Cup Wrap Application
-
Prep Cup: Clean the surface thoroughly.
-
Measure & Tape: Wrap the decal around the cup to check placement, then use washi tape to create a "hinge" in the middle of the design.
-
Peel Backing: Peel and trim about 1-2 inches of the backing paper from one side of the hinge.
-
Apply Hinge: Lay down the exposed adhesive, smooth it with fingers, and burnish (rub) it firmly with a squeegee or felt tool.
-
Roll & Squeegee: Remove the tape. Slowly peel the rest of the backing as you roll the cup, squeegeeing firmly as you go, working from the center outwards.
-
Final Burnish: Once fully applied, rub the entire design with your palm or squeegee for several minutes to activate the adhesive and ensure a strong bond.
-
Remove Film: Slowly peel off the top clear film, pressing down any lifting spots before continuing.
Key Tips
-
Slow is Key: Work slowly and gently during the peeling process to avoid lifting the design.
-
No Repositioning: Once applied, UV DTF is permanent and cannot be repositioned.
-
Heat Activation: Body heat (from rubbing) helps activate the adhesive for better bonding.
-
No Overlap: Trim edges to prevent overlap on cups to avoid gaps or bulk.
Congrats — you completed your snow globe cup!!
